The gardens are bursting with color for the season, get an eyeful of rainbow flora at one of the upcoming gardening times.

Como Corner Community Garden, at 22nd & Como Aves SE, is an ornamental and native plant garden. Gardeners meet at 6:30 pm on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday evening of each month. Como Corner is an important greenspace to our community since it is on our main bus/bike/driving route. Its cared for by neighbors and more help is needed! Come for one, session, or come for them all. Contact the SECIA office to get on their email list or find the Como Corner Community Garden on Facebook.

The previous two years of rain garden installations by Como neighbors at Talmage Crossing Community Garden are greening up beautifully for the summer. Come walk along the paths and you might see some of our smaller visitors, the bees and butterflies. These gardens are maintained by volunteer Como residents and more hands are always welcome, even just for a single visit. The newest garden bed was successfully planted with native prairie plants in May with help from volunteers gardeners. Regular gardening days will be on the second Tuesday of the month from 6:00 PM to dusk and the last Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM to noon for June through September. Contact talmage@comogreenvillage.info to be notified of other garden activities.

FairShare Farm Community Garden, the communal vegetable garden at 22nd & Fairmount Ave SE, still has a few membership openings! This is a great opportunity to be part of a gardening community and learn from other gardeners. Members get first pick of the harvest and are required to show up once a week at the Monday evening, Wednesday evening, or Saturday morning gardening times. Supporters get the remaining produce and can participate whenever they like. Making a time commitment can be hard, so we welcome FairShare members and supporters alike! Gardening is a rewarding experience that is enriched by sharing it with others. Registration info for Supporters and Members can be found at http://z.umn.edu/uvw Contact Steph at the SECIA office with questions, at steph@comogreenvillage.info, 612-676-1731, or visit our Facebook page
