The Southeast Como Improvement Association (SECIA), in partnership with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling, are proud to continue to host a Residential Organics Drop-Off at Van Cleve Park, located at 901 15th Ave SE. This nearby drop-off allows residents to drastically reduce the amount of trash they create, and recycle organic material that cannot be composted in backyard bins.
Residential organics include ALL food waste, food-soiled and non-recyclable paper, and other compostable materials such as coffee grounds, filters, cotton swabs, and dryer lint. Yard waste and pet waste are not accepted. Residents must drop-off their organic materials in a compostable bag (either paper or certified compostable plastic). Larger items such as pizza boxes and wax coated boxes do not need to be bagged. Linked here is detail list of what can and cannot be included.
The containers are located at the west end of the parking lot. Sign up for the Van Cleve Park drop-off by clicking here!
UPDATE: Minneapolis Residents now have an organics recycling option via curbside pick-up. Residents currently have a black cart for garbage and a blue one for recycling; organics will be collected in green carts. Any organics from the home can be put in the green cart for pickup on the same day as garbage. Customers must opt in for this service and will be invited to sign up starting in April. To get a green organics collection bin, Minneapolis recycling customers can request one at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 612-673-2917.
