posted May 19, 2015, 9:34 AM by Como Tidbits

SECIA’s spring event is just around the corner! The TCEducate Earth Day Extravaganza is a continuation of SECIA’s tradition of organizing a community gathering on Earth Day each spring. This year, we’ll be putting on an Earth Day festival on April 22nd. We’ll be kicking it off on the University of Minnesota campus with a SECIA-sponsored organics recycling table at the University’s Earth Day Expo.  The Earth Day Expo will feature Campus and Non-Campus organizations presenting environmental information and volunteer opportunities from 11:00-2:00 PM on the Gateway Mall near McNamara Alumni Center.

The TCEducate Earth Day Extravaganza continues at Van Cleve Park at 5- 8pm! Come on by the park for:

  • Free compostable bags & stump the master composter

  • TCEducate Geology and Water Quality exhibition

    • Come learn about all the things that go on under your feet!  There will be hands-on and edible examples and displays.  At 7 pm Amy Myrbo, Como resident and Lab Manager at the U of M's Limnological Research Center, will lecture on the basics of Geology and Hydrology.  This is a continuation of our TCEducate series, in partnership with the MPCA, UDA, and Sunny day

  • Bicycle repair clinics

  • Gardening & cooking activities

  • Activities to support our urban forest

  • Street lighting & Utility box project voting
