In response to a series of violent acts in and around Como, SECIA has contacted many community members and organizations in hopes to coordinate activities in the next few weeks with goals of increasing communication, creating partnerships and building community.

Here is what we've planned so far and we will continue to update this information so please check back or contact us:

  • Safety flyering and warm treats along 15th Ave in SE Como Wednesday, Nov 6th in the afternoon. SECIA and the Neighborhood Liaisons and other partners along with anyone else interested to distribute crime and safety materials on 15th ave from 3-5 pm. Look for  a tent with hot beverages from Muddsuckers.

  • Sexual assault safety and solidarity walk Friday, November 8th, 5:30 dinner, and a solidarity walk at 6:30 at Southeast Christian Church (960 15th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414). SECIA, Southeast Christian and the Neighborhood Liaisons are planning this with the Aurora Center and MSA.

  • Crime and Safety update by Inspector Waite of the 2nd Precinct at the SECIA Annual meeting, November 13th, 6:30pm at Van Cleve Park (901 15th Avenue Southeast).

  •  2nd Precinct Advisory Council meeting at 6pm, on November 18th in Southeast Minneapolis, at University Lutheran Church of Hope, Heritage Hall, 601 13th Ave SE. Parking is available on the church grounds. This will be a special Southeast Minneapolis focused meeting with the topic of recent robberies in 2nd Precinct. Robberies have become quite an issue in Southeast Minneapolis in the last few months.Inspector Kathy Waite and Crime Prevention Specialists Nick Juarez and Susan Webb will be present to review recent events, discuss personal safety advice, and listen to community concerns.

Feel free to contact SECIA about any of the upcoming events and how you can participate
