Van Cleve Park
The 13th annual Como Cookout is quickly approaching and everyone is invited! The Cookout is SE Como’s yearly celebration of the neighborhood, bringing together neighbors new and old. Come to Van Cleve park on September 12th after adjusting to the first week back in the school groove and enjoy a free meal, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.
This years music lineup features local bands Red Daughters, Prairie Fire Lady Choir, and If Monsters Were Real, in addition to a Radio K dj pumping out tunes by the food line. Other activities include (but are not limited to): face painting, henna, kids games, print-your-own garden t-shirt (bring a light-colored washed cotton shirt!), inflatable jumper, info and activities about the community and the well loved Kids Dance!
We are working in partnership with Open Streets University Avenue this year! Make sure to check out all the great things the Dinkytown and Stadium Village businesses have to offer after grabbing a free meal and entertainment at the Cookout.
Volunteers are needed to make this event happen. All volunteers will receive a meal and a free t-shirt in return for their help. If interested, email Claire, SECIA Events Intern, at email@example.com or call the SECIA office at 612-676-1731.
The Como Cookout is a low-waste community event sponsored by U of MN Off Campus Living, the Southeast Como Improvement Association, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, RadioK, Two Fat Guys and a Grill and in partnership with Open Streets Minneapolis.
